2026 USEF Medication Lecture

Thank you to Meridian Equine, Endia Peckham, DVM and Lauren Wade, DVM for an extremely informative lecture on USEF Medication.  We are sharing the power point that was presented tonight and the following words of wisdom:

PowerPoint Presentation

  • YOU (owner, rider, trainer) are responsible for ANYTHING that is put on or in your horse's body.
  • Besides the usual medications be mindful of supplements, treats and topical treatments (shampoos, fly spray).  Check all ingredients! There is a USEF information sheet about medication on the USEF website and on the power point but if in doubt- CALL or email USEF.   USEF medication questions:  medequestrian@usef.org   800-633-2472
  • USEF asked Indy to share this story:  An interesting case happened when a dog who was on a forbidden med for horses peed in a horses stall and the horse ate hay by the pee.  The horse tested positive for a drug.  It can happen.  Make sure you are aware of everything in your horse's surroundings.
  • Control everything in your power as you are ultimately responsible.
  • If in doubt CALL THE USEF or email so you have their response in writing.  medequestrian@usef.org   800-633-2472
